I absolutely love this place. Anytime I have been in St. Augustine I have made sure to make time to come by Sangrias. Nothing beats a cool laid-back lounge offering $20 sangria that fills close to 6 glasses.(Hummus tapa is also a keeper!) Always sit outside if you can, the inside is usually stifling but you'll understand in St. Augustine you're almost always trading off up to standard AC systems for old buildings with character. We'll see you real soon, Sangrias!

Nice location with live music and many sorts of sangria to choose from. It's a small restaurant/bar where you can sit outside. The tapas aren't really tapas but just normal platters. The krab cakes are fresh. The sangria tastes good. The staff (the girl) is really friendly.

When we are in St. Augustine we always make a stop here at Sangria's and order none other a pitcher of "Sangria" we got a trio of small plates. It was plenty to share with nothing left over. I wanted to lick my plate but I promise I did restrain myself. We ordered the Ceviche' which was a mix of baby scallops, shrimp and white fish. It had a wonderful brightness of Lime and a crunch of almonds. Also I can never pass up a great seared tuna. It was cooked or I should say prepared perfectly and come with a salad made with mixed lettuces, chick peas, feta, carrots and a wonderful smooth balsamic dressing. Our third dish was a citrus grilled sangria glazed shrimp. Marinated in lime juice grilled to perfection also on top of a salad. It was all delicious but a little saltier than I remember. They have a great balcony to sit out on and watch the people traffic below.

Delicious tapas (appetizers) and absolutely heavenly sangria! My wife and I love the Matanzas sangria blend. The tapas variety is delicious- the chips and salsa are great and the trio of spreads of delightful. Highly recommended, also sit on the balcony for a nice view :)

We received Friendly service from the second we walked in. We really wanted one of the outside tables overlooking the street but they were all taken with no sign of one opening up soon. We settled with one of the tables outside on the other side which turned out to be a lot more quiet and peaceful. Something we didn't know we wanted at the time. Relaxing atmosphere Live music Quick drinks Will return.

We ordered the salsa, dips, and cheese plate, all of which were good. The sangria however, was the star of the show. I sampled several of the reds and all were tasty. My wife tried a white that she enjoyed. The ambiance was great and the bar was comfortable. Recommended.

What a lovely experience! My husband and I decided to visit Sangrias on Halloween night. We were sat on the balcony and were able to watch everyone in costume stroll down the walkways during our meal. My husband & I both decided to try their black bean and sweet potato burrito - and our taste buds danced the meal away! It was delicious. Later we decided to try their grilled banana split and that, too was an excellent menu item. I tried a berry sangria that was recommended. I enjoyed it - and all of the fresh fruit in it. The balcony dining area, the music, the excellent food, and the view created the perfect ambiance - somewhere between romantic and serene. I couldn't have asked for more on this gorgeous evening. If you enjoy excellent food and dining with a view, then I recommend visiting Sangrias!

I like this place for a couple different reasons. 1) the location - it's right on St. George Street 2) the people watching - you can sit on the balcony and watch as all the people wander by. 3) the sangrias - not only are they delicious, but you can get a pitcher for $20 and split it with a friend or spouse and get quite a few drinks out of it for way cheaper than ordering them one by one. I pretty much stop in here every time I'm in St. Augustine and I recommend you do to.

WORST POSSIBLE SERVICE!! We came in for a drink and food and no one seated us. Took about 30 min for someone to come to our table. When they did, we dealt with Jose. Worst waiter ever! He didn't fill our waters even after we asked, brought out half the food and didn't remember to bring out the rest of the food. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone even if you were starving. Service is the absolute worst.

Neat place that we stumbled upon and really enjoyed. We came in for a late lunch/early afternoon snack. The service was nice, not super fast but certainly not super slow either. We ordered a pitcher of Havana Banana sangria and if you like banana I highly recommend it. For food we had tapas which were great...I had a black bean and sweet potato and my wife had a different selection although I can't recall what it was exactly but do remember trying it and it was good too. If you can get a table out the deck and it is great for people watching for sure! Live music too!

Tapas and Sangria where great! We just wanted to people watch and have a little snack and this was perfect. Waiter was great and food came quick..Chicken Pesto Burrito was small but tasty. Great balcony for viewing and hanging out...

Great atmosphere sitting at the patio with good wine and great food. Their bruschetta was on point.

I only had drinks here, but the outside tables looked nice if you wanted to have a meal. They have a nice fireplace area inside as well. Service was friendly, I would love to return for dinner!

Crowded on a saturday but still got a seat outside on upper deck. Delicious sangria. Got the cheese and fruit plate which was just diverse enough. Wish there was some crusty bread w it instead of the weird over seasoned bread crumb chunks but overall the cheeses made up for it. Definitely stop in for a sangria. About 10 to choose from. We got the grapefruit one which was so refreshing and crisp and the pineapple that was so yummy n

Great atmosphere and location in the heart of it all. It overlooks the old paved city streets with balcony seating. Nice sangria choices! Tapas good not great but good. It's a great place for music and drinking.

THEIR BALCONY REMINDS ME OF THE FRENCH QUARTER IN NEW ORLEANS...!!! Really good sangria, and I LOVE SANGRIA. I have probably made 100 gallons of sangria in my adult life - mostly for parties with friends. Their sangria is GOOD. They also have great live music, and a killer balcony that is reminiscent of The French Quarter in New Orleans. Unlike the many touristy rip-off places in St. Augustine, Sangria's is the real deal. And inexpensive, too... $20 pitchers of sangria. What more could you possibly want?!?

  • Anna J.

Pros: Atmosphere (great porch to sit on if the weather is nice), location (right in the heart of downtown St. Augustine), Sangria, tapas and small plates, servers pool tips so usually there is someone available to you. Cons: the tappas is really pricy for what you get, annoying touristy groups, if you sit on the porch upstairs the trolly comes by and rings its bell VERY loudly about every 2-3 minutes. It's a good place for groups, or to go for a drink or two if you are in the area. I wouldn't travel out of my way for it.

Everything was excellent including the service. My only complaint was that the AC could not keep up with the heat as it has been very hot outside. Great entertainment and the food was awesome. We will definitely try the Sangria next time. Enjoyed the Caprese salad, bruschetta and grilled shrimp. We would totally come back!

  • Matt H.

Great place in a land of tourist places. While the "taps" are def. more of American appetizers, the food & drink quality are excellent. Prices are in line with a tourist place but they more than make up for it with service & atmosphere. The place to go to enjoy St. A for a while.

  • Kathy H.

Large selection of sangrias, both white & red! Nice porch for sipping & people watching too...menu didn't sway me, but really enjoyed the people watching and the sangria. Reilly's was best - dry and a little fruity with spiced apples, which I didn't think I'd like but the apples really kicked it off! Good marks for drinks & porch sitting ;)

We both like sangrias and thought a sangria bar had to have great sangrias. Wrong!!! We stopped in for a mid afternoon refreshing drink. First, we had a hard time finding the front door. Once upstairs we walked in the front door and there was no one to greet us. It was dark and dingy and somewhat of a maze inside. As we wondered around looking for someone - anyone to help us, we finally found our way out to the balcony overlooking St. George Street. There were only a few tables on the balcony and they were mostly taken but we finally settled in at the last open one. The one and only wait staff finally found us. We ordered a pitcher of the classic red sangria. It was $20 for a small pitcher (maybe 20 oz) with two small rock glasses. The rock glasses held maybe 4 oz each with ice. It tasted vaguely like sangria but not at all what one would expect from a sangria bar. We did not order or eat any food there. Neither did anyone else. There was no smell of food in the air and in fact we were never even offered a food menu. With only one staff around no wonder why. The couple sitting at the table beside us had ordered a pitcher of the white sangria. They each drank part of a glass, got up and left the rest of the pitcher on the table. Guess they didn't like theirs either. The best thing I can say about the place was it was a great place to watch people on the street below. Would I go back? Never! Tourist town / tourist trap.

Very cool little place upstairs on St. George. I wouldn't call it super authentic but we are not in Spain so that's fine since the food was good. Get the sangria pitcher for $20 if you plan on having more than just 2 small glasses. It's better value. Some guy with a bad review said they had no manchego cheese. I just had it here so I don't know what he is talking about. Maybe they ran out on a busy weekend?

  • Lissete D.

I love sangrias. The drink for which this place is named after. I make a killer sangria myself and have enjoyed many amazing sangria so all over Spain. That bring said, Sangrias sangrias are just ok. We usually stop in for sangria on the porch. Sometimes we will order an appetizer. Although, appetizer prices are quite steep for what you get. But I don't like to drink on an empty stomach. We get the pitcher of Cinco Frutas sangria. On paper, it sounds great. And the pitcher appears to be the better deal. A glass is $8 and the pitcher is $20. So if there are 2 or more, then the pitcher is the best option. However, the pitcher is packed with ice. And that ice not only takes up a lot of room in the pitcher but it also waters down the sangria. We do enjoy sitting up there and people watching while enjoying a drink though. I must remember to ask for no ice next time.

Ceviche is delicious, and great beans and dip. Balcony seating is a great way to enjoy some late night snacks and people watch St George St below.

This place is a disgrace to tapas bars. I would give the place fewer stars if Yelp had a zero-star rating. The Cinco Fruta sangria drink was absolutely terrible. How is that I ordered a sangria and had zero fruits in the cup? The flavors failed to mesh well together, and overall, the drink felt a bit watered down, which is highly disappointing at a price of $8.50. Anyone who says its amazing, in my opinion, has never tasted great sangria. Most importantly, the place has no tapas from Spain. Not even a single traditional tapa. No manchego cheese (or any other Spanish cheese for that matter), no jamon serrano, no gambas, no marcona almonds, no olives, no montaditos...nothing!!! How could you call yourself a tapas place and have none of those items. I guess we should have realized what we were getting ourselves into when we saw the English flags hanging from the balcony. The menu comprises a mix of Italian, Mexican, Greek, Caribbean and Japanese food items like spanakopita, sushi grade tuna, chips and salsa, crab cakes, bruschetta and burritos. I would have probably been fine with that selection if it wasn't labeled a a tapas bar. We tried the ceviche and it was probably the least enjoyable one I've ever had. Not to mention, the serving size was minuscule. I've had peanuts served in larger bowls at airport lounges! That portion for $10 is a ripoff. After eating that ceviche, which left much to be desired, we gave up on the place, asked for the check, paid and left. The only redeeming qualities the place had were the friendly server and the nice view of George street from the upstairs balcony area. Aside from that its a total fail. Definitely don't recommend it. Go to Michael's Tasting Room instead for some real delicious Spanish cuisine.

We ate out on the deck and it was a fabulous environment to listen to music and watch people walk by. The Sangria was ok,.. food alright although a bit pricey for what it was (we had the burritos and the caprese, I only recommend the caprese), but the ambience was nice.

  • Stacy C.

We stopped in to try the different Sangria options. The staff was incredible Nice and very knowledgable. I generally prefer a pretty dry wine. Reds preferably, where my boyfriend prefers a sweet white wine. They let us try everything that we were curious about and made suggestions based on our tastes. We wanted to get a pitcher, but with our taste being on opposite sides of the spectrum, I felt sure this was not actually going to be an option. I can't remember the name of it but it was 75% dry and 25% sweet that we both agreed on... And it was delicious! We also tried the bruschetta and the sushi grade tuna... Both were very tasty, but the tuna was pretty premium, in my opinion. The dry rub was SO tasty!

Sangrias Wine and Tapas Bar is a wonderful spot! The Chef did a fabulous job. Food was excellent. We met the Chef--- great guy - great Chef. ....highly recommend eating here. Our waiter ...courteous, helpful and nice blue eyes. The music was excellent---soft and mellow.

Perfect little place to chill. OMG the Bruschetta is to die for and the Sangria......had me feeling quite happy after only my 2 glass.

This is the one place to hang out in St Augustine when it is time to relax, time to people watch, and time to drink. Oh yea! They serve food too! After all, Sangria was truly invented here in St Augustine since those Spanish scoundrels only sent the worst wine, in tar-lined barrels, to the brave conquistadors who crazily settled here. The only possible way to imbibe that swill was to add fruit and spice and bring your strong motivation to drink! Now, we can enjoy great wine, with a wonderful mix of fruit and spice, while sitting on a very comfortable balcony, delighting in fine alcohol-fueled conversation while watching the incredible diversity of tourists and zealots walk by, here at this wonderful establishment in the oldest city in the United States! Don't miss it and see you there next time!

My favorite place for a date with my husband or with my girlfriends. My favorite spot to sit out on the balcony- people watch and drink wine. I enjoy their tapas as well!

Sangria was good, not great. The service was good as well. The tapas I found to be quite pricey for the quantity and quality.

  • Beth C.

Ambiance is good, sangria is ok. The ceviche is not fresh and would recommend they take off the menu. The cheese and fruit platter was good, but overpriced.

Service is terrible outside. Really cool atmosphere and live band, but such awful service and only got sangria.

  • Candace C.

I love this place! I'm a local and have been coming here for over 4 years now! I love all of the red sangrias the best. Good cheese plate and chocolate dessert. A pitcher of sangria is a great deal at approx $19-20. The tapas are a little more pricey. Great for dates or smaller-mid size groups. I would not suggest for a large group as seating and standing space is limited. Typically have live music on busy nights, music selection is ok but not my favorite. One of my favorites in town! Great place if you love sangria (but they also have some beers on tap and wine too).

    (4)
  • Darren A.

Food was OK, but the only thing Tapas like is the name. Live music was too loud to have any dinner conversation.

    (2)
  • Marc R.

The atmosphere at Sangrias was nice and the sangria tasty, but the tapas were overpriced and not what I would call tapas. The "tapas" were more like quirky medium plates, several of which they were out of. I was hungry, so I caved and had the glazed shrimp (4), bruschetta, and hummus All were tasty, but way overpriced and not really plated, portioned, nor sized as tapas. I'd stick to drinks and skip the "tapas".

Enjoy Saint Augustine from your majestic perch at Sangria's! The burritos are superb and the sangria is delicious. Great food and drinks

  • Sandy W.

Admittedly, I am reviewing this tapas bar based solely on the 'bar' element. I still feel confident enough to give this place four stars, and I'll tell you why. -Live music. The three piece who played really brought down the house, covering everything from Dope Show to Forgot About Dre. -Wraparound balcony. Bourbon St. stile, so you can watch the ramblers in old town below. We saw your typical dude carrying the "you're all going to hell" sign, followed by a surprising addition of a dude WHEELING a life sized cross around. On a wheel. -Sangria. Yeah, I know that's the name of the place. But usually sangria tastes like black cherry koolaid with some box wine in it, but this was the jam. Not very sugary at all, and balanced just right. Yum. It was pretty lame that they don't have their own bathrooms, so you have to use the scary public ones outside, down the stairs. Just use the buddy system. The servers are nice, even when their patrons are having a little too much fun. Ha.

Stopped here for dinner & drinks prior to a cocktail hour the night before a friend's wedding. My three friends & I had a table upstairs overlooking the pedway. The deck is very narrow so we were a little cramped, but it didn't bother me that much. For a tapas place I felt like the portions were pretty large. I wouldn't call them normal tapas because they were not finger food-like. Rather, the dishes resembled generous appetizer portions. We shared six or seven dishes between the four of us, including bruschetta & ceviche, & everything was good but not out-of-this-world. We also downed a few pitchers of the Cinco Fruta sangria. Again, good but not to die for. I'd probably give this place a more generous review for its location, atmosphere, attentive server, & good food if it wasn't for the music. I understand that Sangrias is a piano bar & that we should have expected live music. (Normally, I love live music!) But when the music is so loud that you're screaming so that the person sitting shoulder-to-shoulder can hear you, then you know it's too loud. They could have turned the volume on the speakers that were above us down & we still could have heard the music. After all, the band was playing about fifteen feet from our table.

I was in town for the weekend, and needed a place to go. I turned to the advice of some friends who had been to this place before, so I figured I would give it a try. Yelp reviews said that I should be ok- I was just that and nothing more. Our server was clearly new, but trying very hard to make our experience great... so that combined with a great location for people watching would have made me like this place more. The food was par, average, normal. The tapas were a nice size for sharing, the sangria was slightly above average. The price of everything was reasonable, but more than I thought we should have paid for what we got. I have to copy another Yelper to close with this, thanks Brian H, "a nice place to hang on the porch, have a cocktail, people watch with cruel, sarcastic but very funny wise-ass remarks from one story above the touristy alley/walkway below, nibble on something very AVERAGE from the limited menu."

What a fun little nook to hang out, enjoy some wine, and nosh on some late-night bites. We popped in here when they were packed post Mumford concert an loved the tree-house vibe of the lounge area. The fella working the door was super friendly and even helped us find a table through all the madness! But unfortunately, that's where the customer peaks... For whatever reason, our server felt the need to address us like we were in in grade-school and boasted a very condescending air to her from the get-go. We also thought that it was odd that she only brought one glass of water out when we asked for some? Most servers go ahead and bring a fresh glass for each person seated at the table but no, not this bird. And, what makes it worse is that it was clearly steamy hot and the bulk of the crowd were clearly from the Mumford event. These are people that need water! Did I miss the memo that there was a water-shortage in Florida? The menu offered some veg-friendly options that included hummus and salads but they were paired with corn chips instead of pita or artisan crackers or bread. I'm not really a corn chip fan personally. Overall, our experience was just okay but I do believe that much of our mood was altered by the heat and lack of water paired with our annoying server. The space itself is fun and has a nice layout.

I get around to some restaurants. I feel like I can effectively judge the quality of almost any kind of place. I had one of the tastiest, most satisfying meals of my life last night. Seared ahi tuna was cooked perfectly. The salad served on the side was delicious. The black bean and sweet potato buffalo fingers were amazing. The salsa, fresh. The sangria was so yummy, and thankfully so. I have high expectations for menu items that are included in the name of the restaurant. And last but not least... dessert. GRILLED. BANANA. SPLIT. Words can't even describe this heavenly creation. As far as the dining experience, our waiter was so friendly, and VERY attentive. He made wonderful recommendations, and even chatted with us about the city. We sat on the balcony overlooking St. George street. It was later in the evening, so it was romantic, and there was pretty awesome music playing the whole time. When I'm traveling, I don't usually like to visit the same place twice, but I may have to make an exception in this case. MMMMHMMMM

Terrible! Went for an early dinner on a sat night. We tried to order 3 different items for dinner and every time a wait and then only to find out that they were out of everything! We ended up having $10 salsa with a few chips. Seriously on a Saturday night you have no food? Not a good experience at all.

We stopped here late on our first night in town. Tapas is what drew us in...we were hungry and wanted a spot outside overlooking the tourists on their balcony. Heads up those limited spots get snatched fast so we sat at the small bar inside. We had a variety of their tapa spreads, caprese mozz salad and another tapa dish (ugh it's been a few weeks sorry!) and sangria. I ordered the classic as there are two kinds. The bartender recommended the classic which was their greatest seller. Awesome. Loved it. There was music in the other room but I wanted to digress from a long AM of travel, enjoy the food and hear my best friend speak. We were able to get the feel of the music, have the bar to ourselves and indulge. Would go back in an instant.

Surprisingly very good food and Sangria. Plus if you sit on the balcony you can people watch on the street below and spend hours there. Great music in the background. Was a good pick and would recommend.

We stopped by Sangrias after lunch on a beautiful March day. We went upstairs and sat at one of the small tables overlooking the corner of Hypolita and St. George, enjoying the sunny day and the cool breeze passing through. Our waiter, who was friendly and just the right amount of attentive, brought us our sangria and we sat out there for a while watching the tourists wander up and down the streets. There's a level of calm out on that balcony, being a bit separated from the noises of the street. And since the only tables outside are 2-person tables (it's a very narrow balcony) you won't be sitting amongst large, loud groups of people there. If the weather is right, I'd say that this is one of the best places to be in St. Augustine when you want to take a break, relax, and enjoy the scenery.

  • Brian H.

Yep, a nice place to hang on the porch, have a cocktail, people watch with cruel, sarcastic but very funny wise-ass remarks from one story above the touristy alley/walkway below, nibble on something very AVERAGE from the limited menu. I sat with a nice hoppy beer reco from the excellent but sometimes disappearing server, shared the crab cake app (4 stars), the tuscan bean/olive tapanade/pesto spreads (3 stars) with a below average but fresh bread, and we also shared the seared tuna app which was a disappointment. I am not sure if it was the cut of tuna or the age, but with the mixed green salad and soy dipping sauce we were able to camouflage the taste. In the middle of St. Augustine's tacky tourist area, this was OK, but would not be acceptable in a metropolitan city.

  • Dean P.

Fantastic fare, the sangria is delicious (and strong). Ceviche was fresh and the spanikopita was absolutely amazing. Don't forget to try one of the signature burritos, the sweet potatoe and black bean concoction was flavorful and full of cheese. Definetly worth the stop. And give a rooster some love!

Very handsome, well-appointed bar. Just tried the sangria - the Matanzas - and with its cinnamon apple, blackberry, raspberry, blueberry and strawberry, topped with champagne, it is too good to miss.

Best restaurant in St. Augustine. Great menu and nice ambiance. Nice wine list. Great service. This is a must if you are looking for fine dining. We stayed for 3 hours, had bottles of wine and several appetizers so our bill was high, but you can get by for less.

My wife and I had our rehearsal dinner here last week and Kelly and Andy did a fantastic job delivering on the night of the event. The food was great, the music was low-key and pleasant and everything was on-time. I'd give 5 stars, but did have some issues scheduling and confirming the event with them.

  • Matt C.

Food: was really great, the tuna (seared lightly with cayenne with an excellent salad) and bruschetta (balsamic drizzle plus chopped tomato and mozzarella) are absolute must haves. The shrimp was excellent also but 4 shrimp for $13 was a bit steep..gimme 2 more and I won't complain. Either way you could really enjoy all the complex flavors in each fish and everything was properly seasoned and fresh (no frozen!!) Drink: the sangria was amazing, and for $19 a pitcher, you will enjoy your time Atmosphere: live music playing inside with speakers to outside was surprisingly good (not a 50 year old cover band) and sitting outside on the deck overlooking the old narrow streets of st Augustine let you get a better glimpse to what the town is all about. All in this is a must stop if you're in the area.

I LOVE this joint! They have an excellent selection of Sangrias (red and white) that can be ordered by the pitcher - Fun! I would recommend sitting outside on the 2nd floor to get your fill of the interesting tourists of St. Augustine. I didn't try the food but my friend did and he absolutely loved it. He got the pesto chicken wrap and it definitely looked yummy. This place is a must see if you're in the mood for people watching and wine! :)

Surprisingly kid friendly as it's nestled in a little garden courtyard. Although on the second level once you make it up there are lots of comfy lounge seating tables. Our little guy was able to play as if we were at home in our own living room. Sangria was great and grilled shrimp tapas cooked perfectly.

Adore this place! EVERY time I go to St. Augustine, this is the first place I go or make a reservation for ever since I tried it. The scenery and decor is just so calming and lovely. They have live music as well so it is such a soothing place. My favorite place to sit it out on the balcony - the corner table, overlooking the main crosswalk of downtown. AWESOME! You seriously feel special when you sit here, gives you an awesome view to soak everything in. The wine is also amazing. Lunch or Dinner, this is the place to go, I highly recommend it. After you eat, you can relax inside on a coach while listening to the music. It is truly a special St. Augustine gem!!!

Great live music and view of St. George Street below. Really nice and friendly servers! Nachos were not that good and really expensive, but if you are looking for some drinks, live music, and good service...this is the place!

The atmosphere made this a neat experience. The food was decent (but over priced....4 shrimp for $16?) I loved the Sangrias. I'll be back for the drinks!

Had a tapas meal with family last week (April 18, 2013) and the food was A-MAZ-ING. And I am a foodie. Very expensive... but worth it. Sangria was great too.

OMG!! Fantastic sangria a and the tuna is to die for!! Live music as we people-watch from the balcony... We WILL be back!!

Knowledgeable bartenders, decently priced drinks. All Sangrias are $8/glass. Food looked good, didn't have any though b/c I was full from dinner. Tried 2 reds - 1 from WA & 1 from OR but since they're known for their Sangrias, why waste my time with wine? Above Cafe del Hidalgo. 2 outdoor seating areas, cool interior, a band was about to start playing when I left & it was a Monday evening. In the downtown tourist district but worth checking out if you're not a local. Good drink presentation too - I had one w/ organic berries....Cinco Fruta Sangria. It was yummy & tasted pretty fresh.

We went there on a Friday night because we were drawn by the live music; it was a little loud when we were actually inside though and the service was awfully slow. I guess we didn't mind as much because we weren't really too hungry. We were originally just going for sangria but we also tried the caprese salad which was pretty good but the portions are small. Sangria's is right in middle of the touristy area; "Historic St. Augustine". The place is beautiful, you could sit in the balcony, people watch, listen to live music, and enjoy their amazing selections of Sangria!

Beautiful Place... Gorgeous building... Disappointing food and service... Been here 2 times.. came back to give it a 2nd shot... but had the same experience... and the first time..the music was way too loud... It is fun to sit on the 2nd floor balcony and people watch...

Casual atmosphere with a few tables outside on balcony. Service was super friendly and helpful. Live music on Monday night a plus. Only a few food options but what we ordered was good-better than average but not stellar: Spanish beef burrito, buffalo mozzarella caprese salad, guava pastry and sangria. Sangria options were unique, using lots of different fruit and juices to create each drink. We would definitely go back.

The Spanish atmosphere is good. The wrap around balcony very nice. Nothing Spanish about their spicy, small portions, over price Mexican dishes. The Ceviche was more like a sour sample of the cheapest seafood they could find. The beef burrito is a Mexican version of a cheesesteak which you could get at any local American bistro. Should have gone to the Columbia Restaurant across the street. At least their food is authentic.

Awesome wines ...but bad waiter service but the sangrias are to die for ..so don't go if you are hungry

It's a nice place with great views on the deck. Sadly, the food was overpriced and barely average. Service was horrible. I sat down and two servers walked by me about 5 times each before I finally had to speak up. Then they barely acted as if they cared.

Absolutely beautiful place, I mean truly beautiful, like much of St. Augustine. I love the old Spanish style architecture, it reminds me of a monastery. The wrap-around balcony is definitely THE spot to people watch and grab a meal in St. Augustine. That is why I am so disappointed with their tapas! (Only food items available) Ceviche of the Day looked like a small bowl of chopped up garlic, but nope, there literally about 1oz of fish in there! Not worth $14. The $18 cheese & fruit plate contained about $1.67 worth of bland grocery store cheeses, 2 grapes, half a strawberry, and a piece of pineapple, or something to that effect. I was so angry that we chose to eat a light lunch here, and still ended up spending over $40 with tax and tip. This was MUCH less satisfying than buying a pair of granola bars. And the service was genuinely terrible. The server seemed bored, frustrated, or at least disinterested in us. I know that some people love this place, but this is just my experience.

The point was the ambiance. The point was to sit on a balcony during a warm, summer evening in St. Augustine. If that was point, than it was a success. The guitarist was a bit too loud for such a small place, or maybe I just shouldn't have been sat right next to his speaker. (I'm told I should bring earplugs with me, since music volume is a regular complaint in my reviews. It's odd, since I love music, but sometimes too much is too much.) The beer was cold and tasty. (The water was cold too, which was of infinite pleasure after sweating profusely all day.) The tapas were various and enjoyable. Didn't try the sangria, which might seem preposterous when you go to a joint named "Sangria's" and they are pushing the sangria in your face. But beer seemed like a better match to the sweating I'd been doing all day. All and all, sangria or not, a success all around.

We were touristing around St. Augustine the other day and went here for lunch. The waitress seemed a bit annoyed by our presence and was a bit short with us when we ordered, but as the meal progressed she seemed just fine. I felt like maybe I was just reading her wrong. The sangria was good and had a nice cinnamon flavor, but not enough fruit as I'm normally used to in sangria. For food we ordered: Burrito fingers, caprese salad(tomatoes and mozz), cheese and fruit plate, various dips plate. I thought all the food tasted great. I wished the portions were a bit bigger, but all flavorful fresh and yummy. I would probably go here again if I wanted a slightly overpriced lunch in tourist town.

The place is nice, the sangria was alright, service is awful and the staff is utterly unable to address any complaints without the owner there. If you MUST go to this place, do yourself a favor and pay in cash.

A great place to have a glass of wine, or a glass of sangria (or a pitcher!). I've only been twice so far, but both were wonderful experiences. Live music (at least on the weekend) and some great different options as far as seating goes (regular tables, tables on the porch, couches, etc.). It is usually crowded when I've been with my wife, but we've only gone twice and we were still able to get seats. It seems a little pricey for one sangria ($8) but a 48 oz pitch is only $19 (at least at the time of this review). It's a relaxing and surprisingly romantic place to have a drink with a loved one, but I'm sure it would be great for groups (so long as you get there early, maybe before 6 or 7).

Love the sangria! I like the outside balcony in the front, but unfortunately it does not accommodate large parties. I was there a couple of weeks ago with my parents and we had to sit in side because there is only 1 table on the balcony that can seat more than 2 people. The food is pretty good too, but not great.

The place has switched owners three times now. The first was a complete jerk. The second was a druggie who was always behind the bar waster. Now the third has been good so far, but only time will tell. I used to come here a bit when the music was good. Mostly friends would drag me up the stairs, I preferred other watering wells in town. Anyways, they do have a great selection of beer if you can afford it. I don't understand how the pint draft beer costs more than a bottle of imported spanish beer. The sangria is good but not consistent. One day I shared a pitcher with a friend and felt really good afterwards, another day there was so much juice and not enough wine. Some days they have good acoustic or jazz music but some days they have loud obnoxious bands that belong at the beach bar, not a cute wine and tapas bar. The food is okay, don't come here if you're hungry. If you just want a beer or sangria and nibble on something delicious, then this is the place to come.

This is another great place t visit in St. Augustine. It's right on a corner street in the heart of downtown St. Augustine. We sat outside on their balcony. It was perfect. Fun place to enjoy the Florida sun, do a little people watching, listen t live music, and enjoy delicious food and drinks. We got the crab cakes and the bruschetta - both were really delicious! I am a huge fan of bruschetta in general, but this place was probably one of the best bruschetta's I've tasted. All of it tasted very fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Definitely a must!

this place came highly recommended by friends who are foodies, so my expectations? were met. service however? was a little slow. but I think she was waiting for my other half to join me. had she come right out, I would've drank a sangria before he arrived. we had the three spread with brushetta, and it was nice and garlicy, and fresh. I loved the pesto, very earthy, and rich. the olive tapanade tasty as well. the presentation was nice, and the sangria's? were refreshing. Mine was a ruby red grapefruit white wine mixture. my husband got the cocoanut and grapefruit, and it was slightly tart and fun. we sat on the balcony, watched the tourists and the rain come in. it was a lovely moment that I'll remember for a long time. very nice establishment with lots of character.

A Gem in St Augustine. The outside seating is perfectly located to view the crowds walking by below you. The inside is super comfy. Sunday night, they have great music, The Tapas are all excellent And the WHITE SANGRIA is to die for!!! Service was great too! This was OUR favorite spot while visiting St. Augustine

Everything was perfect. Located in the heart of St. Augustine, inside a quaint stone building, boasting a second story balcony that wraps around and overlooks the narrow, pedestrian-filled street. So romantic. I don't like to use superlatives, but these were the best mojitos I've ever tasted. We snacked on a couple of appetizers and they were delicious. The fingerling burrito bites stuffed with sweet potato and black beans were tasty. The artisan bread with 3 dips: hummus & tapenade were also very good. The owner stopped by our table a few times to make sure we were alright, that's always a nice touch.

As a local who lives in the downtown area, we know the good, bad and the ugly. Sangria's is a great place along with Cellar 6, and The Tasting Room . Stay a few nights or come back soon and try them all!!!

Wonderful view from the balcony, sitting outside and soaking up the breezes. Street entertainment and great music, band inside. The balcony wraps itself around so you get a wonderful exposure to the local flavor that is St. Augustine. My niece had her rehersal dinner here; food was great, but I'm not sure if they provided or if she had it catered???? Met a wonderful friend here and shared the rest of the evening. I will be back.

This little Spanish place is really cute. Its two stories and you feel like you're in someones home. The upstairs has a little living room area with dimly lit lamps and comfy couches and a veranda to look out and watch the people pass by. There is like 6 types of Sangria, and I went in a big group who basically decided to order everything on the menu. Everything tasted amazing, even the salad garnish was devoured. There is also live music to enjoy while you eat.

Hate to go against the grain here, but... The ambience was great, locale was lovely and service was pleasant, however, the food was way overpriced considering the quality. Had the Ceviche of the Day which was mediocre, almost tasted canned somehow and the $18 cheese plate featured lovely fruits but a very small assortment of the absolute cheapest most boring cheeses. With all the variety in St. Augustine, I'd have to recommend other places over this one.
